ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A winding for an electrical inductive apparatus, for example a transformer or a reactor, comprises a plura- lity of superimposed turns of sheet-formed electrically- conducting material wound around an axis defining the longitudinal axis of the winding. The winding includes at least one element which, together with a surface of at least one of the turns of the winding, defines a plurality of channels for conducting an electrically- insulating fluid in contact with a part of said surface. This element has a plurality of elongated spacers in substantially parallel spaced relationship, each spacer having first and second spaced-apart faces with the first faces of the spacers in contact with said surface. The spacers of each pair of adjacent spacers are joined together by connecting means which are spaced from and located between a first plane touching the first faces of said adjacent spacers and a second plane touching the second faces of said adjacent spacers. The element may be disposed between confronting surfaces of adjacent turns of the winding. Alternatively, or in addition, the element may be disposed with the first faces of its spacers against the inwardly facing surface of the inner- most turn of the winding, or against the outwardly facing surface of the outermost turn of the winding. And a method of making such a winding.
