A winding structure for an electric motor which permits a two phase electric motor to be operated from a three phase source of electrical energy is disclosed. The first phase includes a first set of windings which are provided on a first set of stator poles and which are connected to a first current generating circuit. Thus, the first phase is energized solely by the output electrical current from the first current generating circuit. The second phase includes a second set of windings which are provided on a second set of stator poles and which are connected to a second current generating circuit. The second phase further includes a third set of windings which are provided on the same second set of stator poles with the second set of windings. The third set of windings are connected to a third current generating circuit and are wound in opposite directions from the second set of windings. Thus, the second phase is energized by the output electrical current from the second current generating circuit less the output electrical current from the third current generating circuit. Thus, the input current signals for the two phases exhibit a 90° phase differential which make them well suited for use in operating a two phase motor from a three phase source of electrical energy.

La deuxième phase comprend en outre un troisième jeu d'enroulements qui sont montés sur le même deuxième jeu de pôles de stator que le deuxième jeu d'enroulements. Les enroulements du troisième jeu sont raccordés à un troisième circuit générateur de courant et sont enroulés en sens contraire des enroulements du deuxième jeu. Ainsi, la deuxième phase est mise sous tension par le courant de sortie du deuxième circuit générateur de courant moins le courant de sortie du troisième circuit générateur de courant. Ainsi, les signaux du courant d'entrée pour les deux phases démontrent un différentiel de phase de 90 .degrés., ce qui les rend propres à alimenter un moteur biphasé à partir d'une source d'énergie électrique triphasée.
