The invention relates to a winding tube (9) for receiving a strip-shaped finished or half-finished product comprising an elongated cylindrical body (10) provided with an internal wall (11) in front of which a contactless readable data carrier containing data on said strip-shaped finished or half- finished product is arranged. In order to produce the inventive multi-purpose winding (9) tube at low cost and provide it with excellent operating and recycling characteristics, said data carrier is hold in the tube body by means of a tubular holding element (1) in such a way that it is placed at a certain distance from the internal wall of the tube body.
