2076654 9113581 PCTABS00007 A headrail enclosure (11) for a venetian blind having a tilt mechanism (31) and raising mechanism (32) includes integrally spaced headrail hooks (40, 40a, 41, 41a), a hook keeper (46), and a tang (44) extending from the enclosure edges defined by the front wall (42, 43) and the rear wall (45). A pair of universal mounting brackets (17) are alternatively attachable by screws (9) to either a horizontal surface or to a vertical surface of a window frame. The mounting bracket includes a hook (19, 19b, 20, 20b) extending from each end of a base portion (18). The hook (19, 19b) of each bracket (17) contains a discrete wave-like leaf spring having a curvilinear leg (21c). After the bracket (17) have been mounted adjacent the window, the headrail enclosure (11) is positioned by an installer in the direction of arrow (50) against the bias of the curvilinear leg (21c) of the spring to position the headrail enclosure (11) securely within the brackets (17).
