A window fastener for controlling the locking and unlocking of a window is disclosed. The fastener provides an unlocking feature that is manually activated by the user and a locking feature that is automatically activated as the window is moved substantially proximate to the closed position. The unlocking feature disengages the fastener from the window and maintains disengagement so that further manipulation of the fastener is not required to facilitate window opening.
