A lock for a closure, such as a window or door. The lock includes a driving rod slidably mounted on the casement for movement along its longitudinal axis toward and away from the recess of a locking plate, a bolting element having a curved outer surface which is radial from a first axis, and a pair of leading surfaces which are tangent to the curved outer surface and which converge to an apex for engaging the locking plate to guide the bolting element into the recess, a stud mounted on the bolting for rotation relative to the bolting element about the first axis, an eccentric bearing attachment connected to the stud and the driving rod for enabling the stud to rotate about a second axis which is parallel to and offset from the central axis is which causes the stud to rotate about the second axis relative to the driving rod and to cause the first axis to rotate about the second axis, and a retainer for maintaining said apex at the longitudinal axis of the driving rod so that rotation of the stud about the second axis causes the bolting element to pivot about the apex to cause lateral movement of the stud and to cause the curved outer surface to move laterally relative to the longitudinal axis for adjusting the pressing force required for closing the casement relative to the frame.

Cette invention concerne un verrou de fermeture, une porte ou une fenêtre par exemple. Il comprend une barre coulissante montée sur le châssis de la fermeture et qui se déplace le long de son axe longitudinal vers l'évidement d'une gâche et vice versa, un pêne comportant une surface extérieure arrondie décalée radialement par rapport à un premier axe, deux bords d'attaque tangents à la surface extérieure arrondie qui convergent vers une pointe destinée à guider le pêne dans la gâche, un bouton monté sur le pêne de manière à pouvoir tourner autour du premier axe susmentionné, un coussinet excentrique couplé au bouton et à la barre coulissante et destiné à permettre audit bouton de tourner autour d'un second axe parallèle à l'axe central et décalé par rapport à celui-ci. Ce montage fait en sorte que le bouton tourne autour du second axe par rapport à la barre coulissante et que le premier axe tourne autour du second axe. Il est également prévu un organe de retenue servant à maintenir la pointe précité dans le prolongement de l'axe longitudinal de la barre coulissante pour que la rotation du bouton autour du second axe force le pêne à pivoter autour de sa pointe et à se déporter latéralement par rapport audit axe longitudinal pour ainsi ajuster la pression nécessaire pour approcher le châssis du cadre.
