ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A window stay for adjustable mounting of a window sash on a window frame. The stay comprises a frame mounting plate and a sash mounting plate with long and short arms joining the respective plates to one another. The ends of the longer arm are pivotally joined to the respective plates but the shorter arm is pivoted by one end to the sash plate whilst the other end is pivoted to a free sliding carriage on the frame plate. Means are provided so that the carriage can be locked in at least one position on the frame plate. - 1 -
