"Devices for partially opening and closing horizontal and vertical sliding windows are obstructive, complicated and difficult to operate. Permanent or difficult devices can be obstructive in a quick escape during the event of a disaster, e.g. bars. In this invention, a track elevated on two stand-offs are mounted on a frame parallel to the opening side of a sliding window; a slidable bracket embracing the track with an extended arm; the arm permits limited backward movement of the window; a bolt secured in a recess in the bracket body contains a pin, a spring and a ring for biasing and retracting the bolt out of the slots in the track; the slots permitting movement of the bracket in either direction on the track so that the window can be permanently closed or partially closed or opened."
