In window units comprising a window sash or frame and a hingeable sash carrying panes of glass thereon, hingeably mounted to one margin of the open portion of the frame, a collapsible screen means is attached between the peripheral margins of sash and frame at least along the three opening sides so as to enclose, when the sash and frame are in open position, that space between sash and frame and to nest closed when in the closed position, the collapsible screen means being formed as a bellows defining a plurality of apertures. Preferably, the collapsible screen means is constructed from sheet plastic, either translucent or clear, and preferably from Mylar?.
