ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A window unit comprises an outer frame, a sash mounted movably within the outer frame, and a sash removal prevention device. The device includes a blocking member supported on a head of the outer frame 90 as to be angular- ly movable between its horizontal and vertical positions. The device further includes means carried on the head for releasably retaining the blocking member in the horizontal position, whereby the sash can be prevented against removal from the outer frame. When released from the retaining means, the blocking member turns by gravity from the horizontal position to the vertical position, permitting the sash to be removed from the outer frame.
