There is provided a windshield wiper activation device which utilizes a sensor member mounted proximate the windshield of the car, the sensor member having an elongated body, the elongated body being fixedly mounted on a shaft, the shaft extending into an electric switch for activating the windshield wiper, the arrangement being such that rotatable movement of the sensor element and attached shaft will cause the switch to close to activate the windshield wipers. The device is particularly suitable to activate the windshield wipers under a force such as a heavy splashing of the windshield by rain or snow which might obscure the vision of the driver of the vehicle.
