ABSTRACT A method of forming a boot for a windshield wiper, the boot consisting of a tubular envelope of required shape and the method comprising the steps of forming a cylindrical tubular parison of thermoplastic elastomer material, placing the parison in a mould having a cavity contoured to the required shape of the boot to be made, sealing one end of the parison, blowing a gas into the other end of the parison with the parison heated to a temperature above the plastic transition temperature so that the thermoplastic material conforms to the shape of the mould cavity to form a blank, cooling the thermoplastic material below its plastic transition temperature, and separating the blank and the mould and trimming the blank to leave the boot. Preferably, the thermoplastic elastomer is selected from the group comprising: ALCRYN 6331 (trade mark of Dupont), SANTOPRENE, and GEOLAST (trade marks of Monsanto). - 1 -
