A catheter introducer set is disclosed. The device comprises a cannula for insertion into a blood vessel, a tube in fluid communication with the cannula and a needle for assisting in the introduction of the cannula into the vessel. Between the cannula and the tube is an intermediate member which allows the needle to be gripped so that it can be inserted into the blood vessel. The intermediate member preferably has a pair of wings to facilitate the gripping of the needle. The needle has an opening or openings in it to allow a user to observe blood flashback during insertion of the needle into the blood vessel. The intermediatemember is made of polyurethane and is provided with a groove to facilitate the gripping of the needle. The wings have ramps on them to facilitate the gripping of the needle. Ribs are also provided between the ramp and the intermediate member to facilitate gripping. The wings describe an angle of less than 180 degrees.
On décrit un système d'insertion d'un cathéter. Le dispositif comprend une canule destinée à être insérée dans un vaisseau sanguin, un tube relié à la canule et un aiguille facilitant l'insertion de la canule dans ce vaisseau. Une composante intermédiaire se trouve entre la canule et le tube, de façon que l'aiguille puisse être saisie et insérée dans le vaisseau sanguin. Préférablement, cette composante intermédiaire comporte des ailettes afin de faciliter la préhension de l'aiguille. L'aiguille est munie d'une ou de plusieurs ouvertures de manière que l'usager puisse observer le reflux sanguin lorsque l'aiguille entre dans le vaisseau sanguin. La composante intermédiaire est constituée de polyuréthane et est munie d'un sillon de sorte qu'il soit plus facile de saisir l'aiguille. Les ailettes sont munies de saillies afin que la préhension de l'aiguille soit plus aisée. Toujours afin de faciliter la préhension, on a monté des tiges d'appui entre les saillies et la composante intermédiaire . Les ailettes forment un angle inférieur à 180 degrés.
