A tread for a winter tyre suitable for use on snow-covered, icy or wet ground, including at least some raised portions having tread surface grooves (10) extending along paths with widths greater than zero and median axes at given angles (.alpha.¿0?) to the circumferential direction of the tyre. At least on the surfaces that are parallel to the tread surface and radially spaced therefrom by a distance no smaller than half the maximum depth of the groove, some of the grooves (10) have one or more paths with median axes extending in directions (.alpha.¿1?) different from the direction (.alpha.¿0?) of the median groove path axis on the tread surface.
La bande de roulement d'un pneumatique, destiné à rouler sur des sols enneigés, verglacés ou mouillés, comprend au moins des éléments en relief pourvus d'incisions (10) présentant, sur la surface de la bande de roulement, des tracés de largeurs non nulles et d'axes moyens faisant avec la direction circonférentielle du pneumatique des angles (.alpha.0) donnés. Certaines incisions (10) ont au moins sur toute surface parallèle à la surface de bande de roulement et située à une distance radiale de ladite surface au moins égale à la moitié de la profondeur maximale de l'incision, un (des) tracé(s) dont l'(les)orientation(s) (.alpha.1) de l'(des)axe(s) moyen(s) est (sont) différente(s) de l'orientation (.alpha.0) de l'axe moyen du tracé de ladite incision sur la surface de bande de roulement.
