72166-19 ABSTRACT The wiper arm assembly according to the invention comprises a mounting head rigidly secured to a drive shaft, a channel rotatably connected to the mounting head, spring means capable of biasing the channel towards the surface to be wiped, a sliding element located inside the channel and provided with an arm extension for attaching thereto a wiper blade, and a rod articulated at one of its ends to the sliding element and, at the other of its ends, to a vehicle body at a certain distance from the drive shaft. When the channel is oscillating about the drive shaft the rod imparts a back and forth movement to the sliding element and thus to the arm extension and to the wiper blade. Solid anti-friction means are provided between the sliding element and the channel. The solid anti-friction means may consist of a plastic sheath, a ball bearing, a roller bearing or the like.
