ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE. A three dimensional wire matrix structure is provided of low mass having outer wire sheets formed of longitudinal and transverse wires, the two sheets being interconnected and spaced from each other in generally mutually parallel relation by a third sheet, portions of the longitudinal wires of which are cranked at an obtuse angle. Attachment of the outer sheets to the cranked intermediate sheet is achieved by welding the transverse wires of the sheets to adjacent longitudinal wires of an adjoining sheet. In two arrangements having the longitudinal wires of the outer sheets on the outside of the structure, a substantially symetrical structure is obtained. In a third embodiment an asymetrical structure is obtained, having the transverse wires of the outer sheets on the outside of the structure, and the cranked longi- tudinal wires of the inner sheet overlapping the longitudinal wires of one of the outer sheets, while being spaced from the other outer sheet by the transverse wires of the intermediate sheet by which attachment is made. Joining pieces also are pro- vided comprising sections of fabricated sheet having transverse wires extending from both sides thereof, and cranked downwardly in an "S"-shape to provide interconnection for two abutting sections of matrix over which or beneath which, the joining pieces lie in edge-overlapping relation. The step of gunniting or injecting concrete then completes the joining process.
