ABSTRACT A wire sawing method for cutting buildings, dams, bridge piers, foundations and other reinforced concrete structures is disclosed. In this method an endless cutting cable is looped about the structure, a cable driving system is provided comprising a moving cable driving machine which simultaneously tensions and circulates the cable, and a fixed cable driving machine on the tension side of the moving cable driving machine to drive the tension side of the cable; and the cable is driven to cut the structure, the tension and running speed of the cable being adjusted by the cable driving system. By this method, adequate driving power for operation is provided without a cable driving machine of large power output and large weight being required. Instead, a moving cable driving machine and a fixed cable driving machine are provided together in series, so that workability in terms of transportation, lifting and lowering of the cable driving machine is not impaired. Furthermore, not only when cutting reinforced concrete structures on the land but also when cutting underwater where the cutting cable is subjected to large viscous resistance and form drag, sufficient driving power for running the cable and stable wire sawing can be ensured.
