The invention relates to wire seals for use in a drying space of a Condebelt? drying apparatus described in Finnish Patent 54 514. In the appar- atus, a material web to be dried passes in a substantially airless space between two metal bands (1, 7), or other similar bands or mem- branes of good thermal conductivity, together with drying wires. One of the metal bands is arranged to heat and the other is arranged to cool; the heating band (1) evaporates moisture contained in the web (2) to be dried, the mois- ture condensing on the surface of the cooling band (7), separated from the web to be dried by drying wires (3, 4). The drying space between the bands (1) and (7) of the Condebelt? appar- atus is sealed up at the edges by seals integral with the coarse wire (4) either such that the wire is partly filled close to its edges with sealant stripes (5) extending longitudinally of the wire and being usually slightly thicker than the coarse wire, or such that the seal profiles (9) or strips are attached close to the wire edges or to the wire edges by sewing, vulcaniz- ing, gluing, or a combination of these ways of attachment.
Cette invention a rapport à des fils de calfeutrage pour utilisation dans un espace de séchage d'une installation de séchage Condebelt? décrite dans le brevet finlandais 54 514. Dans l'installation, une toile de tissu à sécher passe dans un espace presque totalement sans air entre deux bandes métalliques (1,7), ou d'autres bandes similaires ou membranes de bonne conductivité thermique, accompagné de fils de séchage. Une des bandes métalliques est conçue pour chauffer tandis que l'autre est conçue pour refroidir; la bande de chauffage (1) fait évaporer l'humidité contenue dans la toile (2) à sécher, l'humidité se condense sur la surface de la bande de refroidissement (7), séparée de la toile à sécher par les fils de séchage (3,4). L'espace de séchage entre les bandes (1) et (7) de l'appareil Condebelt? est scellé sur les bords par des joints d'étanchéité incorporés au fil brut (4) de façon à ce que le fil soit partiellement rempli près de ses bords par des rubans d'étanchéité (5) qui se prolongent en direction longitudinale du fil et étant habituellement légèrement plus épais que le fil brut, ou de façon à ce que les bandes ou les profilés de scellement (9) soient fixés près des bords des fils ou aux bords même par couture, par vulcanisation, par collage, ou par une combinaison de ces modes de fixation.
