A wire wrapping tool is provided for wrapping a wire end about a fixed wire. The tool includes a housing having an outer slot across a front end and a handle extending rearwards from a back end. A spur gear is rotatably mounted near the front end and includes a hub extending axially from each side through respective sides of the housing. A bore extends axially through the spur gear and both hubs. A slot extends radially from the bore to a periphery of the spur gear between a pair of adjacent gear teeth. The slot also extends through the hubs from the bore to a side of the hub. An idler gear is mounted centrally within the housing for meshing with the spur gear. A drive gear is mounted near the back end of the housing for meshing with the idler gear and includes a socket extending from a side of the drive gear through the housing. The socket is arranged to connect to a suitable drive such as a power drill. The outer slot of the housing is for co-operation with the slot of spur gear for receiving the fixed wire therethrough such that the fixed wire extends axially through the bore in use and the spur gear rotates about the fixed wire. The hubs on the spur gear are arranged to engage the wire end such that the wire end is rotated with the spur gear about the fixed wire.
