A portable plug device for use in a vehicle is disclosed for enabling wireless transmissions from an audio source, such as an mp3 player or the like, to a head unit of a car stereo for reproduction of the audio content over speakers in the vehicle. The portable plug device includes a cord suitable for being attached to the auxiliary unit of the stereo head unit, or another location integrated in the vehicle which controls audio functions. In one configuration, the portable plug further includes a wireless transceiver for sending and receiving data and control signals to and from an audio source connected to a second wireless transceiver. The portable plug device can be used to receive control signals from the stereo equipment integrated in the vehicle so that an occupant can control features such as volume, skip track, pause and stop by using the audio controls integrated in the vehicle. In another configuration, the portable plug device includes a microphone to enable the occupant to have a telephone conversation hands free using a telephone compatible with the wireless standard implemented in the portable plug device. In still other implementations, an occupant can use the portable plug device to receive audio content, and if he or she receives an incoming call, the speakers are muted and the call is taken. After the call is taken, the occupant can resume listening to audio content from the audio source over the vehicle speakers.
L'invention concerne un dispositif portable présentant une fiche à utiliser dans un véhicule. Ce dispositif permet d'effectuer des transmissions sans fil à partir d'une source audio, notamment un lecteur MP3 ou analogue destiné à l'unité principale d'une stéréo de voiture, pour lire le contenu audio par les haut-parleurs du véhicule. Le dispositif portable à fiche comprend un cordon conçu pour être fixé sur l'unité auxiliaire de l'unité principale stéréo, ou sur un autre emplacement intégré au véhicule qui commande des fonctions audio. Dans une configuration, le dispositif portable de l'invention comprend également un émetteur/récepteur sans fil pour envoyer et pour recevoir des données et des signaux de commande vers la source audio et à partir de la source audio reliée à un second émetteur/récepteur sans fil. Le dispositif portable de l'invention peut être utilisé pour recevoir des signaux de commande à partir d'un équipement stéréo intégré au véhicule de sorte qu'un occupant du véhicule peut commander certaines caractéristiques, notamment le volume, le saut de piste, la fonction pause et la fonction arrêt, à l'aide du système de commande audio intégré au véhicule. Dans une autre configuration, le dispositif portable à fiche comprend un microphone pour permettre à un occupant d'établir une conversation téléphonique main libre à l'aide d'un téléphone compatible avec la norme sans fil mise en oeuvre dans le dispositif portable. Dans d'autres modes de réalisation de l'invention, un occupant peut utiliser le dispositif portable pour recevoir un contenu audio, et si il reçoit un appel entrant, les haut-parleurs passent en mode discrétion et l'appel est pris. Une fois que l'appel est pris, l'occupant peut revenir à l'écoute du contenu audio provenant de la source audio à l'aide des haut-parleurs du véhicule.
