A wireless modem device is configured for connection over a cellular carrier network to a second network. In a non-activated mode, the wireless modem device can only be connected to an authorization server of a cellular carrier network and cannot communicate outside the boundaries of an activation service. Activation is initiated by the cellular carrier network upon receipt of a request 42 from the wireless modem device to access a web resource address (URL) of the second network. The handset is connected 46 to the carrier authorization server if the wireless modem device has not been activated 44, and is provided 48 with an activation page at the authorization server. The authorization server activates 52 the wireless modem device for wireless connection 54,55 to the second network through the cellular carrier network.
La présente invention concerne un dispositif de modem sans fil, configuré pour une connexion sur un réseau de porteuse cellulaire sur un second réseau. Dans un mode non activé, le dispositif de modem sans fil ne peut être connecté qu'à un serveur d'autorisations d'un réseau de porteuse cellulaire et ne peut pas communiquer en dehors des limites d'un service d'activation. L'activation est initiée par le réseau de porteuse cellulaire dès réception d'une requête (42) provenant du dispositif de modem sans fil pour accéder à une adresse de ressource Web (URL) du second réseau. Le combiné est relié (46) au serveur d'autorisation de porteuse si le dispositif de modem sans fil n'a pas été activé (44) et est muni (48) d'une page d'activation sur le serveur d'autorisation.
