A communication method, system and components are provided that includes use of traffic predictions determined by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). Preferably, the invention is implemented by predicting traffic in a wireless local area network (WLAN), between a WTRU and a WLAN access point (AP) that begins by determining a traffic level at the WTRU. Traffic prediction information is sent by the WTRU to the AP where it is used in conjunction with the generation of commands sent to WTRUs to control the manner of access by WTRUs to the WLAN via the AP. WTRUs receive instructions as to admission and are preferably configured to receive and implement instructions to adjust the contention window used by the WTRU to transmit data.
L'invention concerne un procédé, un système et des éléments de communication dans lesquels sont utilisées les prévisions en matière de trafic déterminées par une unité d'émission/réception sans fil (WTRU). Le procédé de l'invention est, de préférence, mis en oeuvre par prévision du trafic dans un réseau local sans fil (WLAN), entre une WTRU et un point d'accès (AP) WLAN, consistant à déterminer un niveau de trafic au niveau de la WTRU. Les informations de prévision de trafic sont envoyées par la WTRU au AP où elles sont utilisées conjointement à la génération de commandes envoyées aux WTRUs afin de contrôler l'accès des WTRUs au WLAN via le point d'accès. Les WTRUs reçoivent des instructions concernant l'admission et sont, de préférence, configurées pour recevoir et exécuter les instructions afin de régler la fenêtre de contention utilisée par la WTRU pour transmettre les données.
