A wireless thermostatic control system includes a door sensor (5) to detect when a room (1) door (6) is open, a transmitter (69) associated with the door sensor (5) to transmit signals indicating that the door sensor has been triggered, and a single thermostatic control unit (3) for replacing a conventional thermostat which unit includes a receiver (33) to receive the transmitted door signals, a sensor (39) to determine whether a room is occupied in response to receipt of the transmitted signal, and two thermostatic controls, one (43) for a room occupant and one (41) for an energy-saving set back mode when the room (1) is not occupied.
