MP0267 S P E C I F I C A T I O N "WIRES INSULATED BY POLYTETRAMETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE OF REDUCED EMBRITTLEMENT" ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Wires insulated by polytetramethylene tereph- thalate (PTMT) polymers of reduced embrittlement. PTMT polymers are subject to embrittlement, especially at elevated temperatures and when a flame retardant is incorporated therein. This problem is substantially reduced by blending the PTMT polymer with a second polymer which has a flex modulus of 500 to 40,000 psi and a solubility parameter within ? 1.5 of the PTMT polymer, for example an ethylene/ vinyl acetate copolymer or a block copolymer containing polyether and polyester blocks.
