ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method and apparatus is disclosed for securing wood components to be mated with registered slots aligned, for instance for use in a window or door component assembly. The registered slots are formed in engaged surfaces of the wood components. An attachment fitting is provided which includes an elongated spanning member having a central portion and a first and second distal portions. The attachment fitting further includes a first resilient barb which is carried by the first distal portion of the spanning member, such that the barb extends outwardly and toward the central portion of the spanning member. A second resilient barb is carried by the second distal portion and extends outwardly and toward the central portion of the spanning member. The wood components are then disengaged from each other and the first distal portion of the attachment device with the first barb is included into the slot of one of the components, leaving the second distal portion of the attachment device extending from the wood component. The second wood component is brought toward the first wood component so that the second distal portion of the spanning member including the second barb enters the slot formed in the second wood component. The wood components are urged together such that they are held in a mated configuration as a result of the barbs deforming inwardly and engaging inner surfaces of the respective slots.
