A wood coring drill bit comprising a hollow tube having an internal bore (103) and an exterior (100) with equally spaced bodies (10) of substantially uniform width extending in a helical manner from a cutting end (10) of said drill bit, said bodies (10) defining equally spaced flutes (15) between the edges of adjacent bodies (10), each body (10) comprising a land (20) upstanding from a relief (21) at the leading edge of the body (10), a respective cutting face (12) and associated lip (25) being formed at the end of each body (10) at said cutting end. The wood coring drill bit is characterised by having three equally spaced bodies (10) and flutes (15) said cutting face (12) has an included angle which is preferably 125° for hardwood and drywood and 112° for softwood. The lip (25) has a lip clearance angle that is about 6° ~ 1°, the lands (20) on the bodies (10) extend for an axial distance of about 65 mm ~ 5 mm from said cutting end (101) and the internal bore (103) of the hollow tube is tapered outwardly from or adjacent the cutting end (101).

Mèche hélicoïdale de carottage de bois constituée d'un tube creux présentant une âme (103) et un extérieur (100), comportant des corps espacées également (10) de largeur sensiblement uniforme, s'étendant en hélice depuis une extrémité de coupe (10) de la mèche à bois, ces corps (10) définissant des goujures (15) à intervalles réguliers entre les bords de corps adjacents (10), chaque corps (10) comportant un listel (20) formant une avancée par rapport à un creux (21) au niveau de l'arête avant du corps (10), une face de coupe correspondante (12) et un rebord associé (25) formé à l'extrémité de chaque corps (10) au niveau de cette extrémité de coupe. La mèche de carottage de bois est caractérisée par trois corps (10) et goujures (15) espacés uniformément; la face de coupe (12) présente un angle d'ouverture qui est de préférence de 125 DEG pour le bois dur et le bois sec et de 112 DEG pour le bois tendre. Le rebord (25) présente un angle de dépouille d'environ 6 DEG +/- 1 DEG , les listels (20) situés sur les corps (10) s'étendent sur une distance axiale d'environ 65 mm +/- 5 mm par rapport à cette extrémité de coupe (101) et l'âme (103) du tube creux est effilée vers l'extérieur depuis l'extrémité de coupe (101) ou à proximité de celle-ci.
