-16- "WOOD CUTTING MACHINE OR KNIFE PRESS" ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A hydraulically operated head is journalled for re- ciprocation within a heavyduty frame and a wood cutting blade is detachably secured to the underside of the head having a cutting edge configured to the shape of the portion of the wood to be cut from a plank, board or the like. Although it is designed primarily with two heads in order to notch pallet runners with spaced U-shaped notches, it can be used with one head for other cutting purposes and shapes. It avoids the use of saws, milling machines and the like which are not only time consuming but also require considerable skills to operate same. It can be driven electrically, pneumatically or hydraulically as desired.
