A wood structural assembly that includes engineered wood elongate I-beams disposed in parallel and spaced apart relation and interconnected by bridge elements disposed therebetween with each bridge element itself being a selected length portion of an engineered wood I-beam. The length of the selected length portion preferably corresponds in length to the spacing between the upper and lower flange of the elongate I-beam associated therewith. The length extent of the selected length portion forming the bridge element is disposed vertically when associated with and connected to opposed web faces of adjacent parts of elongate wood I-beams. The bridging and beam structure is applicable to building roof structures and floor structures.
