Abstract of the Disclosure Compositions containing three main components, namely a preservative metal; an organic nitrogen-containing compound selected from the group of amines, amine salts and quaternary ammonium compounds containing at least one organic hydrophobic group; and ammonia, ammonium salt or a short-chain amine have very satisfactory properties against wood destroying fungi. The wood preservative compositions are especially satisfactory rot protection agents for wood. The metal in the composition is a so-called preservative metal, suitably copper, tin or zinc and is preferably copper.
