The disclosure herein describes a partition wall that includes a wooden base plate, a wooden top plate and a plurality of wooden vertical studs, each stud being formed of a laminate structure that includes a pair of outer layers of elongated boards of lumber having their opposite ends fixed to the top and base plates and an intermediate layer consisting of a series of wood strips disposed between the outer boards; the strips are vertically spaced from one another so as to define elongated slots in the studs to allow passage of electrical wiring and plumbing and the like therethrough. Also, the base plate and/or top plate may have an identical construction to that of the studs. The partition wall may also include transverse reinforcing wooden boards having a laminate structure similar to that of the studs.
