ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Wood is colored both at its surface and interior by coating with a treating liquid and heating to a temperature sufficient to effect color change. The treating liquid, at the coloring temperature, must be sufficiently heat stable so as to maintain the conti- nuity of the coating and substantially inert to the primary constituents of the wood.
