A process for treating a wood substrate with a water-based formulation containing a wax in order to confer water repellency to the substrate comprising the steps of: (a) placing the substrate in a treatment vessel and reducing the pressure in the vessel to remove air in the pores of the substrate; (b) contacting the substrate in the vessel, while reduced pressure is present in the vessel, with the formulation to allow the formulation to flow into said pores, said contacting being carried out at a temperature at or above that required to cause the wax to change into a molten state; (c) applying a positive pressure to the vessel to force ther formulation into said pores; and (d) releasing the pressure in the vessel and removing the resultant wood substrate from the vessel.

La présente invention concerne un processus de traitement d'un substrat en bois avec une formulation aqueuse à base de cire, de manière à conférer à ce substrat un caractère hydrofuge. Ce procédé consiste à: (a) placer ce substrat dans une cuve de traitement et réduire la pression dans cette cuve pour éliminer l'air contenu dans les pores du substrat; (b) mettre en contact le substrat avec la formulation dans la cuve en situation de pression détendue afin de permettre l'écoulement de cette formulation dans lesdits pores, cette mise en contact étant effectuée à une température égale ou supérieure à la température nécessaire pour que la cire fonde, (c) appliquer une pression positive dans la cuve pour forcer la formulation à entrer dans les pores; et enfin, (d) libérer la pression dans la cuve et retirer de celle-ci le substrat en bois obtenu.
