A barrel shaped container, constructed entirely of wood, having a hollow center with an open end and a flat cover member (lid) complete with a thumb/finger knob extending upward and outward from the top of the cover member. An annular flange extends downward and inward from the entire surface of the cover member to act as a tight seal agent between the cover member and the shell member. An inner removable, deformable plastic member acts as added support to the shell member and provides a water tight element to the internal hollow. The container is shaped and coloured as a wine keg and the outer surface is formed to simulate a wine keg, with an indentation on the shell member for receiving a logo and/ or name. The object of the invention is to provide a unique dual purpose container: One use being as a shipping container for beverage bottles, typically wine bottles and the second use as a container for chilling such bottles.
