A wooden building member having a load receiving elongated structure section with a rectangular cross-section, a cover section for covering the entire length of at least three sides of the cross-section of the structure section, and an insulation section interposed, in a layer form, between the structure section and the cover section and preventing a load applied to the structure section from being transmitted to the cover section. Because the structure section takes a load, design of structure bearing force is facilitated. Also, even if the cover section is completely burnt in a fire, the structure section covered by the cover section is not easily burnt, so that fire resistant performance of the wooden building material is increased. Further, since the surface of the wooden building material is covered by the cover section, the insulation section is not exposed to the outside, which maintains a good appearance of the wooden building material.

La présente invention concerne un élément de construction en bois qui comprend : une section structure allongée de réception de charge dotée d~une section transversale rectangulaire ; une section couverture destinée à recouvrir toute la longueur d~au moins trois côtés de la section transversale de la section structure ; et une section isolante intercalée, sous forme de couche, entre la section structure et la section couverture, empêchant ainsi la transmission à la section couverture d~une charge appliquée sur la section structure. Puisque la section structure prend une charge, la conception de la force portante de la structure est facilitée.
