WOODEN UTILITY POLE REPAIR COLLAR AND METHOD ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A repair collar particularly designed for reinforcing decaying wooden utility poles, which collar includes a pair of separately installed, open-on-one-side structural reinforcing clusters connected in overlapped relation to surround the portion of a pole of be repaired and combined with concrete poured around the repair portion to produce an easily installed reinforced concrete repair collar encapsulating the portion of the pole to be repaired and designed to transfer both the bending and shear forces from the upper portion of the pole across the decayed portion and down into the good below-ground portion of the pole and also, the method of producing a repair collar which includes the initial steps of excavating the ground around the base of the pole to be repaired, positioning two opposed, open-on- one-side structural reinforcing cluster assemblies around the portion of the pole to be encapsulated with substantial portions of the cluster assemblies overlapping, connecting the overlapped portions, installing a form around the connected reinforcing assemblies in outwardly-spaced relation thereto, and pouring concrete into the form to completely encapsulate the connected structural reinforcing cluster assemblies and the deteriorated pole portion as well as sufficient good portions of the pole on both sides of the deteriorated portion to reinforce the weakened decayed pole portion.
