Working Tool of a Machine For Cleaning the Outer Surface of Pipes Abstract of the Disclosure The invention relates to machines for cleaning the outer surface of large-diameter pipes from dirt and anti- rust coating during repair of operating mainlines, especial- ly gas and oil pipelines without interruption of product supply. Each working tool of the machine has a tool holder in the form of a double-arm lever fixed to a rotor of a working member of the machine on the side of the pipe being treated for rotation in a plane extending at right angle to the axis of the pipe. The tool holder is provided, at the rear arm thereof in the direction of rotation of the rotor, with a tool, the front arm of the tool holder sup- porting a counterweight for urging the tool against the pi- pe surface during the cleaning. The edge of the tool hol- der adjacent to the cutting edge of the tool extends during the cleaning substantially in one and the same plane therewi th tangent to the surface of the pipe being treated and is used as a cam for retracting the tool from the surface of the pipe in the zones of location of welded joints and other projection thereof. This construction of the working tool enables reliable protection of welded joints, surface of the pipe being tre? ted and the tool against damages during the cleaning.
