ABSTRACT Worktop built up of modular elements. Elements have a continuous surface or contain holes for accommodating sinks, drip trays and spilla- ge trays. All elements have downward edges along all or part of their perimeter, for creating space under the worktops and for providing a rigid well-sealing connection between adjoining elements. The elements are made of a fine-grained inorganic material bound with not more than 25 % by weight of a thermosetting plastic and incorporating glass fibres in random distribution, by molding to the final shape in a compression mould. The minimum thickness of the material is 3 mm. The worktop is suitable for use in kitchens.
