A worldwide logistics network includes a processing center for receiving customer orders for crystal oscillators over communications links, processing the orders, and generating work orders that are selectively disseminated over communications links to programming centers at strategic locations around the world. Each of the programming centers carries an inventory of generic programmable crystal oscillators. Upon receipt of a work order, a programming center withdraws quantity of programmable crystal oscillators from inventory sufficient to fill the customer order, and, using automated parts handling equipment, the oscillators are successively directed to an interface position with a computer. There, the unique crystal frequency of each oscillator is read and each oscillator is uniquely programmed on the basis of its crystal frequency to generate an output frequency meeting customer specification. Upon completion of this final manufacturing step, the programmed crystal oscillators are shipped to the customers directly from the programming centers.
L'invention concerne un réseau logistique planétaire qui comprend un centre de traitement destiné à recevoir des commandes d'oscillateurs à quartz provenant des clients via des liaisons de communication, à traiter ces commandes et à générer des ordres de fabrication, distribués de façon sélective via des liaisons de communication entre les centres de programmation, situés dans des endroits stratégiques à travers le monde. Chaque centre de programmation possède un stock d'oscillateurs à quartz génériques programmables. Dès réception d'un ordre de fabrication, le centre de programmation prélève sur son stock une quantité d'oscillateurs à quartz programmables qui correspond à la commande du client; au moyen d'un équipement de manutention automatisée des pièces, les oscillateurs sont acheminés successivement vers une position d'interface avec un ordinateur. Une fois les oscillateurs arrivés à bon port, on lit la fréquence de quartz unique de chacun d'eux et l'on programme chaque oscillateur de façon unique sur la base de sa fréquence de quartz afin de générer une fréquence de sortie qui corresponde aux spécifications du client. Dès que ce stade final de fabrication est achevé, les oscillateurs à quartz programmés sont directement expédiés aux clients depuis des centres de programmation.
