ABSTRACT Worm-drive presses, particularly those that operate on combustible material, require the best possible match between charge, compression and post- compression, a regulated input of material, high compression pressure, and as complete as possible extraction of liquid. These ends are served by at least one guide element that engages in the front end of the worm and the adjacent outlet (3), this permittong axial guidance of the extrudant and thus helping prevent breaks in the extrudant. Adjustment of the cross- section and thus the counter-pressure in an extension piece (18) of the outlet (3), is preferably achieved by means of spring-loaded, axially displaceable, spreadable wall sections (21) of the extension piece (18), and a feed regulation system that depends on this, has covers that are preferably controlled by the longitudinal displacement of the extension piece (18) that is governed by pressure. A screen or the like is installed between a reduction system in the input hopper (2) and the rear end of the worm in the input hopper (2). The guide element passes through the wall (5) of the worm-drive tube (1), is driven by a worm gear, and continually cleans the out- let for the expressed liquids which is provided by its installation slit (4) in the wall (5).
