The present invention provides a core (100) for receiving a wound product (130) wherein the core is made of a waste sludge produced in a papermaking process. The process for making the core includes the steps of mixing the sludge with a binder material, which may be either a wet strength or a dry strength agent, and then compressing the mixture into a core through a process such as extrusion or molding. Optionally, the sludge may be dried prior to mixing with the binder material.

La présente invention concerne un mandrin (100) permettant de recevoir un produit (130) enroulé. Ce mandrin est constitué de boue résiduaire produite dans un procédé de fabrication de papier. Le procédé de fabrication du mandrin consiste à mélanger la boue avec un matériau liant qui peut être un agent résistant à l'état humide ou à l'état sec, et à comprimer ensuite ledit mélange en un mandrin par un procédé tel que l'extrusion ou le moulage. La boue peut être séchée avant mélange avec le matériau liant.
