WOVEN BELTING Abstract of the Disclosure This invention relates to a woven belting. The belting has a single-ply central portion, which is preferably woven as a Image twill weave. The belting also has tubular edge portions, which are integrally woven with the central portion, preferably as a Image hollow plain weave. A particularly high abrasion resis- tance can be imparted to the belting if the warp threads for the tubular edge portions are shrunk to such an extent before the weaving operation that the warp threads in the edge portions of the belting become subsequently shrunk to the full extent of their potential shrinkage during the heat setting of the woven belting. Belting of this type combines most or all of the desirable features that belting intended for safety belts should possess.
