A wrap-around cable sleeve (100) for environmentally sealing a cable section is provided where the wrap-around cable sleeve (100) includes a longitudinally extending body (110) comprising an electrically insulating material and having a longitudinally extending portion (119) with a corrugated lateral cross- section. The longitudinally extending portion has a flexural modulus of between about 4,000 and 100,000 psi. The longitudinally extending portion (119) defines a portion of a cable chamber (180). The cable chamber (180) extends at least substantially around the cable section when the body is wrapped around the cable section. The cable chamber (180) has a range taking in a radial direction of at least about 15 percent. The present invention may provide a wrap-around cable sleeve for protecting electrical cable sections of various shapes and sizes from the environment, including moisture as well as sharp objects. Methods of making such wrap-around cable sleeves are also provided.
L'invention concerne un manchon enveloppant pour câble destiné à isoler de l'environnement une partie de câble et comprenant un corps extensible longitudinalement, constitué d'un matériau isolant d'un point de vue électrique et ayant une partie extensible longitudinalement pourvue d'une section transversale ondulée. Cette partie extensible longitudinalement possède un module d'élasticité en flexion compris entre environ 4000 et 10000 psi. Ladite partie extensible définit une partie d'une chambre de câble s'étendant au moins sensiblement autour de la partie de câble lorsque le corps est enveloppé autour de la partie de câble. La chambre de câble s'étend sur au moins 15 % environ dans la direction radiale. L'invention concerne en outre un manchon enveloppant pour câble pouvant protéger des portions de câbles électriques de différentes formes et de différentes tailles et les isoler de l'environnement, y compris de l'humidité et des objets tranchants. L'invention concerne également des procédés de fabrication de ces manchons enveloppants pour câbles.
