Integral retaining means (38) in an open-ended wrap-around carrier for preventing articles such as bottles from escaping the carrier through the open end. The bottom panel (28) is comprised of inner and outer mechanically connected flaps (30, 32), The outer bottom panel flap (32) contains a retainer flap (38) at each end connected along a fold line (56) which is generally par- allel to the open end edge of the bottom panel (28). The retainer flaps (38) extend up into the interior of the carrier through open- ings (76) in the inner bottom panel flap (30). The retainer flap (38) is folded along converging fold lines (72) so that it forms a retainer finger engaging the outer portions of the end bottles in two adjacent rows of bottles in the carrier.
