A progressive method of writing a long grating in a substrate using a pulsed interference fringe pattern. The substrate is moved through the fringe pattern while being continuously illuminated with light of a different wavelength to produce a diffracted beam whose phase is monitored to produce a control signal that regulates the pulsing of the writing beam to ensure that the fringe pattern is present only when it is in correct registry with the grating being written.

Méthode de production progressive d'un long réseau de diffraction sur un substrat à l'aide d'un motif de lignes d'interférence par impulsions. Le substrat est déplacé le long du motif de ligne et continuellement illuminé au moyen de lumière de longueur d'onde différente, de manière à produire un faisceau diffracté dont la phase est commandée pour produire un signal de commande qui règle les pulsations du faisceau d'écriture afin de s'assurer que le motif de ligne est présent seulement lorsqu'il est en correspondance avec le réseau de diffraction à produire.
