ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A writing or painting instrument such as a writing brush provided with a point-tuft is characterized in that the point-tuft may be shaped into a noncircular shape in cross- section through its holder mounted in a front end portion of the instrument, which holder is provided with a noncircular bore for receiving and shaping the point-tuft into the corresponding noncircular shape in cross-section, to facilitate a specific writing or painting operation of the instrument such as a manicure painting of the nails.
