An X-ray beam position monitor has a first series of three collection electrodes (1a, 1b, 1c) and a first biasing electrode (3) for detecting the rotational position of the X-ray beam about a vertical axis (26). The monitor also has a second series of three collection electrodes (5a, 5b, 5c) and a second biasing electrode (7) for detecting the rotational position of the X- ray beam about a horizontal axis (27). Signals generated at the collection electrodes are processed and used to derive the rotational position of the beam about the two axes (26, 27). These signals are also used to derive the translational position of the X-ray beam in horizontal and vertical planes. The beam is centered so that the monitor acts as a null-seeking monitor.

L'invention concerne un moniteur de position de faisceaux de rayons X comportant une première série de trois électrodes collectrices (1a, 1b, 1c) et une première électrode de polarisation (3) permettant de détecter la position de rotation du faisceau de rayons X autour d'un axe vertical (26). Ce moniteur comporte également une seconde série de trois électrodes collectrices (5a, 5b, 5c) et une seconde électrode de polarisation (7) permettant de détecter la position de rotation du faisceau de rayons X autour d'un axe horizontal (27). Des signaux émis au niveau des électrodes collectrices sont traités afin de dériver la position de rotation du faisceau autour des deux axes (26, 27). Ces signaux permettent également de dériver la position de rotation du faisceau de rayons X sur les plans horizontal et vertical. Le faisceau est centré de sorte que le moniteur agisse comme un moniteur de recherche du zéro.
