ABSTRACT: The displacement of an X-ray source over a given traject is required for many medical X-ray applications. The means required for moving the X-ray source can be dispensed with in accordance with the invention, because the cathode is rotated whilst the anode remains stationary, so that the focus moves in space for example, over an arc of a circle. The X-ray tube in accordance with the invention can also be used in the conventional manner. -9-
