Abstract of the Disclosure An improved fire-retardant composition is provided herein for application to vegetation, to suppress the spread of wildfires. The composition is of the type which includes a fire-suppressing salt, e.g. ammonium phosphate, ammonium polyphosphate or ammonium sulfate, in a liquid carrier. The improved composition has a minor amount of xanthan gum incorporated therein to improve the long term stability, anti-corrosivity and adhesion characteristics of the composition.
