Abstract of the Disclosure Novel amphoteric starch derivatives, xanthated starch amines, have been employed as wet-end paper additives for improving both wet and dry strength. They are easily repulpable, readily bio- degradable, effective in a broad range of furnish pH's, and are competitive on a cost/performance basis with commercial systems.
