Cette xylanase est sécrétée par des souches de Bacillus et peut être purifiée par concentration du surnageant de culture de ces souches, passage sur colonnne échangeuse d'ions puis sur colonne d'interaction hydrophobe. Cette xylananse peut être utilisée dans le blanchiment de la pâte à papier et dans la préparation de xylo-oligosaccharides à partir de matières premières d'origine végétale.
